Adverse Separation Counseling
Adverse Separation Counseling is the process through which a commander or rater must perform if a soldier does something adverse to the Army which causes his separation from military service. There are three steps within this counseling: The Commander or Rater must tell the soldier what he did wrong, what happens next, and the soldier’s rights.
Performance counseling is a type of counseling that covers the soldier’s performance for a given period of time, normally either every month or every quarter. This can be done between the first and ninth months of the year or any quarter.
