Pixels Per Inch (PPI) or Pixel Precision; It is a concept used to express image sensitivity in digital imaging tools. Usage areas are smart mobile phones, computer screens, Plasma, LCD and LED televisions, digital photography and scanners. It is a term used more often on the screens of smartphones and tablets. The higher the PPI calculator value, the better and sharper the image.
In contrast, displays with low pixel density will have less screen area and more pixelated image quality.
An often neglected and lost monitor feature in more protruding features like refresh rate and panel type is pixel density.
In short, pixel density is the ratio between screen size and resolution.
For example, the standard 1920×1080 Full HD resolution results in a different pixel density (or pixel-per-inch ratio) over 24 screens (92 PPI) and 27 screens (82 PPI).
More pixels per inch means more screen area, as well as sharper and clearer details. If a screen’s pixel density is too low, there will be limited screen area while the picture becomes pixel-y and blurry.

DPI (Dots per inch)
DPI stands for ‘dots per inch’ – the number of tiny dots per ‘inch’ of your printed material. The larger the DPI, the larger the number of dots, which makes the print clearer.
Generally, the higher the DPI, the higher the print quality. However, it is not always necessary to print with the highest possible DPI. If the image you are printing is aimed to be small, then high DPI will just waste ink. Generally, 300 dpi is preferred when printing print documents.
Likewise, a resolution between 300 and 400 dpi can be used for printing products such as business cards. Usually, a very high DPI like 1200 is only used for professional photography or large advertising images.
How to Calculate PPI2 or Pixels per Square Inch
dp = √(w² + h²)
dp = calculation of screen aspect ratio in pixels (in pixels)
wp = width (in pixels)
hp = length (in pixels)
di = screen size (in inches)
Then, you can calculate the PPI as the ratio between the number of pixels along the diagonal and the diagonal screen size:
PPI = dp/dᵢ

Let’s find the ppi (pixel per inc) value of a laptop with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and a size of 14.1 inches?
dp = √(1366² + 768²) => dp = 1567.09 pixels
ppi = dp / di => 1567.09 / 14.1″
ppi = 111.14
ppi = ~111ppi
If Dot Pitch (Dot (Pixel) size)
Dot pitch = inch/ppi
Dot pitch= 2.54 / 111
Dot pitch = ~ 0.023
